2011 Pre-Spring/Transition Shopping Guide

So, some of you have been asking where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to and, what happened to my blog. Well, to be completely honest I just sort of fell of the map after the 2010 holiday season- we all need a little rest now and then.  I did not however, fall off of the shopping map :) that has remained a part of my so called “down-time”  I must also admit that January and February are two of my least favorite months of the year, mostly because of this freezing cold climate in which I reside.  My shoes are constantly getting mucked up from the slush I have to treck in to get to work, I have to constantly remind myself not to brush up against my muddy car, and on top of dealing with messy outfits due to the elements, this weather is just not kind to my skin!  Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally and East Coast girl, but it’s the first few months of every year that have me wishing I lived in L.A.

Hopefully the last few months of 2010 treated you all kindly, and your holiday’s were everything you hoped they’d be and more.  I know that I got some fab new pieces to help me through the end of the year and into January.  I would say that up until about two weeks ago my pre-2011 wardrobe was still suitable for my needs, but any good fashion junkie knows that the allure of holiday gifts wears off quickly, and the temptation of a new wardrobe that surrounds us in spring ad campaigns is nearly irresistible.  So, without further adieu I give you my guide to your pre-spring 2011 transition wardrobe shopping guide.

Colorful Denim- Spice up your bottoms!  Go for a bright color to help transition into spring AND help spice up your winter wardrobe in this dreary weather.  Try a cropped pair, like these $59.50 from GAP which will stay out of the slush in this weather, and show off those awesome new sandals come springtime!

J.Crew has several standout pieces every season, and this is one of my faves! The Sailor Sweater is a silk and linen blend that is prefect for layering under a cozy sweater and can take you right into the warmer months of spring.  $88.00 j.crew.com
I know some of you may be so over boot shopping, but don’t give up if you haven’t found the perfect pair just yet.  I have been tirelessly searching ALL season for not only something that’s actually in stock in my size, but something that suits my style perfectly.  After countless trips to the mall and scouring online stores, none other than Steve Madden finally had what I had been looking for.  So don’t give up, especially if you’re a size 7 :) that seemed to be all that was in stock when I was shopping around.

I just bought the Lindley boot in grey (which is actually more of a distressed black) and let me tell you, it is worth every $249.95!  The leather is incredibly soft and the boot itself is constructed really well.  I know it is going to last me through many a boot seasons! Available online at stevemadden.com

Chambray came creeping back onto the scene last season, and this season Madewell brings it back with their version of the “perfect chambray shirt”  And perfect it is- it’s long enough to wear alone with your skinnies, and hits perfectlty when worn cardigan style over a dress or skirt. Get yours now at madewell.com $68.00

Another fave of mine from Madewell are these lovely leather oxford style wedges (below). $215 also at madewell.com

Sidenote:  Check out Madewell’s “Looks We Love” spread, a look-book of sorts with all their fave new pieces modeled by the lovely Dree Hemingway.

Sure, it’s still cold outside, but who says we can’t wear mini skirts??  I had a difficult time narrowing down my faves so check out shopbop.com for a wide variety of styles, I’m sure you’ll find something ;)

Hats and gloves and scarves oh my!  Just because the stores are stocked with warm weather merchandise, don’t be fooled, there’s still plenty of cold left, so bundle up!  Here are my picks to finish out the season in style.  The first 3 scarves are all by  Society for Scarves available at moxsie.com $48 each. The turban style headwarmer, wide-brimmed hat, and feather print scarf can all be found at urbanoutfitters.com

I think that should be enough to keep you occupied for now, check back soon for more updates! xoxo
